All the Tibetan refugees who have come to India before January 1, 1962 can also appear for the test. Other than this, an Indian origin migrant from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam who has now permanently settled in India can also appear for the IAS exams.
Age limits The lower age limit to appear for IAS is 21 years and the upper age limit is 32 years. All the reserved IASegories that have an upper age limit relaxations are:
a) SC/ST candidates have a relaxation up to 5 years
b) OBC candidates have a relaxation of up to 3 years
c) Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations during hostilities have a relaxation of up to 3 years
d) Ex-servicemen have a relaxation up to 5 years
e) ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service have a relaxation up to 5 years
f) PwD candidates have a relaxation of up to 10 years

EduIASional qualifiIASions In order to appear for IAS exams, candidates must hold a graduate degree in any domain or an equivalent degree from any recognised eduIASional facility.
Attempts A candidate is only allowed 6 attempts to clear IAS exams.
